How to Create an Import Layout

When you click Create in the menu above the list of import layouts in Import Layouts, you will access the Create an Import Layout detail view in which you will enter all of the details of an import layoutAn import layout contains the unique file attributes of a trial balance file(s). These attributes include the delimiter used in the file and the starting row of its data. Also included are the column numbers/letters where the required trial balance data fields reside. In Create an Import Layout, decide how you want to create the import layout, either using a preview of the trial balance file that you will upload, which is the default selection, or without using a preview of the trial balance file.

Create Import Layout Using a Preview of a Trial Balance File

To create an import layout using a preview of a trial balance file for which you are creating the layout, do the following:

1. Under Choose the way in which you want create this layout, accept the default selection of Use a preview of a data file as a guide.
2. Click Select under Browse for the data file to select the trial balance file that you want to preview using the Windows Explorer tool. Once you select the file, a File Attributes section will display above a preview of the data file that you chose.

You must map Reporting Unit, GL Account Code, and Ending Balance to the respective columns that contain this data.
6. In the Name your layout field at the very bottom of this view, enter a unique name for your import layout and then click Create. Upon successful creation of your layout, you will be returned to the Import Layouts list view where you will be able to see the layout that you created on the list.
